Nursery & Store Hours & Policies

Theodore Payne Foundation is open to the public year round. Hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but open days change seasonally:

  • Winter (from November 1 to June 30), open Tuesday to Saturday
  • Summer (from July 1 to October 31), open Thursday to Saturday
  • Always closed on Sunday and Monday, out of respect for our neighbors

Please check our homepage or call (818) 768-1802 for updates.

Nursery Policies

All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges. If your plant dies, we will be happy to help you determine why so that you can avoid a repeat of that outcome.

48-hour Holds. If you want a plant but cannot come in right away to purchase it, you can call our office at (818) 768-1802 to request a hold. We will hold plants for up to 48 hours for pick up except during plant sale weeks when we cannot hold plants.

Pay First. We have a policy of asking customers to leave their plants in the nursery until they have paid for them. Staff will be happy to accommodate customers who would like assistance with bringing carts down to the parking lot.

No Smoking. Anywhere on the property. Ever. We are in a high fire-risk zone, surrounded by dry sagebrush and residential properties.

Dogs Must Be On Leash. Friendly dogs are welcome in the sales yard and on our trail. However, for everyone’s safety – including that of your dog, our plants, our wildlife, and other dogs – we require that all visiting dogs be leashed. Rattlesnakes and coyotes are common on the grounds, including in the sales yard. Please pick up after your pet.
