Do you love gardening? Are you passionate about native plants? Are you driven to give back to your community? Volunteer at Theodore Payne Foundation!

TPF was founded in 1960 by a group of dedicated volunteers. Today, more 250 active volunteers help maintain our grounds and nursery, work in the office, chaperone school field trips, staff booths at outreach events and assist customers in the store and on sale days. We also offer opportunities for school/community service and Boy and Girl Scout projects.

Each volunteer brings unique talents and skills to the TPF team. Volunteers learn by working beside staff and other volunteers, and friendships are formed with like-minded members of the community. To express our gratitude and foster native plant knowledge, TPF volunteers receive credit toward classes at the Foundation.

“I keep coming back because I love the mission that the Foundation upholds and the benefits that natives provide. I am both fulfilled and intellectually challenged.”
– Steve Singer, Volunteer

“At TPF, I hear birds singing, and it’s quiet. And people here walk the walk – they’re truly concerned about the environment and native ecosystems.”
– Kathleen Grantham, Volunteer
