Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers & Native Plants is force for change in Southern California. While we preserve the legacy and carry on the work of Theodore Payne — a pioneering Los Angeles nurseryman, horticulturist, and educator widely considered to be the father of the native plant movement in California — our goal is to transform our region into sustainable, healthy communities. We do this through educating all people about the role native plants play in the local ecology, their place in our gardens, and how everyone can take part in making Southern California more life sustaining.

We are located on 22 acres of canyon land in the northeast corner of the San Fernando Valley. Our full-service native plant nursery, seed room, bookstore, art gallery, demonstration gardens, and hiking trails are open to the public year round. We offer classes for adults and families, field trips to TPF, at-school programs for children and teachers, and outreach across the region. TPF was incorporation in 1960 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Friendly on-leash dogs are welcome and there is no admission charge.
